Small to medium sized business marketing

Effective marketing is a crucial aspect of any successful business. It involves identifying and understanding the needs and preferences of the target audience, and developing strategies to communicate the value of the product or service being offered.

For companies that do not have a strong presence on the web, we help them to increase their customer base, build brand awareness, and ultimately drive sales.

For more than fifteen years, I have advised small and medium sized businesses throughout the Triangle on digital marketing tactics and strategies that have grown their businesses. I have found that most local businesses do not need elaborate and expensive marketing plans. In fact, most are just missing the basics. Local marketing can be simple and just needs to be able to cut through all of the noise online.

I live in Franklinton, NC. I am familiar with the community and know many of the businesses here.

Not all businesses are alike, so it makes sense that their marketing shouldn’t be either. There are however digital channels that have proven to be successful over the years and are easily accessible. These with a combination of Guerrilla marketing tactics can yield some attention which is the first step.

Although unique, all of the topics below are interconnected.

Social Media: So many platforms and so little time. Where is your target market and what are they interested in?

Search Engine Optimization (SEO): Content and blog articles as well as a healthy backlink strategy.

Online Advertising: Timing, proper targeting, a clear offering and keeping wasted spend to a minimum is the key here.

Web Design: Do you need more than just a few simple pages online? We can figure this out together.

Branding: A lot simpler than you think. We want people to remember you and have confidence in your company.

What you can expect when working with a consultant

I have worked with hundreds of clients over the years and advised many more. My hands on experience has given me the experience not just as a practitioner, but also as a teacher and trainer. There are no hidden mysteries and all too often that is the most common feedback I have received from customers over the years.

Your marketing agency should not only share with you what they are doing but teach you to have a better understanding of how marketing works in this digital age. A well documented road map and clear strategy of how it will be executed. I have developed extremely productive working relationships with my clients because of this clear communication.

I enjoy working with small businesses because they are open to trying new things and because the impact that quality marketing can have for the success of their business, their families and the local community.

My Process

Discovery Phase: First, we talk. I need an understanding of your business and what you are trying to accomplish. Most companies hire me because they have someone in their organization who handles their marketing, but only lacks the real world experience in implementation.

I am not looking to replace on one. On the contrary, I enjoy the process of teaching others. My clients and I often start out with more hours and as your team member learns, my service is needed less and less over time.

Research: I review what has been tried and conduct competitor analysis to see how they are placed in the market. Most importantly I seek out feedback from the community. From both your former and current customers, but also the general public.

Strategy Development: Then I create a detailed plan for each for each of my clients. This road map is anything but technical. Marketing is simple, it is just not easy.

Implementation: Then we begin on executing the strategies. Over time we analyze results and adjust according to the response from the market.

For local marketing, participation in events and other related initiatives are key. This does not however mean that you have to spend every Saturday behind a table or under a tent (unless you enjoy such things.)

It is about the commitment to the betterment of the local community. This can be in many forms. If your business is not just local, we can discuss these strategies as well.

To keep overhead low and my services affordable, I work from my home office. But I am happy to get on a zoom call to discuss your marketing needs.

If you’d prefer to meet in person in Franklinton, Youngsville, Bunn or Louisburg, just let me know. I will buy the cup of coffee.

A simple text message is usually the fastest way to get a hold of me.
